Kate Amber is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit. Kate’s research broadly focuses on interventions that can increase incomes for smallholders and other microenterprises in agrifood value chains, with a specific focus on the inclusion of women. This includes work on programming in fragile settings, innovations in agricultural finance, and regulatory solutions for food safety.

Shima Mohamed is a Research Analyst, Development and Strategies and Governance Unit (DSG). She is an Economist with over 10 years of and strong interest in political economy, fragility, private sector development and the role of MSMEs. Shima holds a BSc Honors Degree in Economics from Khartoum University (2012), and an MA in Public Policy from Peking University (2014). Shima’s prior experience includes working as a consultant at the World Bank Sudan Country Office. She also served as a Researcher at International Growth Center (IGC) London School of Economics. Shima also worked as an economist in the office of the Prime Minister of Sudan under Abdallah Hamdouk, where she provided critical economic insights and policy recommendations to support Sudan’s economic transition.
