Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Dealing with nutrition is hard enough– dealing with food systems is 10 fold as big an issue. In talking to senior officials, ministers, and private sector, they don’t really know where to start and what to prioritize in terms of actions to undertake if their food system is to be promoting nutrition, health, environment, livelihoods, poverty reduction and hunger reduction and so the idea formed for the food systems dashboard.
