Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Valencia Wenqian Xu

Research Analyst

Bio

Valencia Wenqian Xu is a Research Analyst in IFPRI’s Foresight and Policy Modeling Unit based in Washington D.C.

At IFPRI, Wenqian works on Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Model and the Rural Investment and Policy Analysis (RIAPA) Models. Her academic interests include value chains, SMEs, impact investment, entrepreneurship, gender, and climate.

Prior to IFPRI, Wenqian worked as a social entrepreneur and impact investor across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. She holds an M.P.A in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University and a B.B.A in Entrepreneurship, Design, and Innovation from the University of Hong Kong.
