What do policymakers, policy analysts, and practitioners–working on agricultural issues in developing countries–need to know about macroeconomics to do their work? What do macroeconomic policymakers and analysts need to know about the effects of agricultural policies on macroeconomic development to do their work? This seminar will answer those questions, drawing on policy messages presented in the new book “Macroeconomics, Agriculture, and Food Security. A Guide to Policy Analysis in Developing Countries” by Eugenio Diaz-Bonilla.

The book “Macroeconomics, Agriculture, and Food Security” was written with policymakers and agricultural development practitioners in mind. It uses a simplified, accessible, macroeconomic framework to discuss monetary, fiscal, exchange rate, and trade policies as they relate to agriculture and food security in developing countries. Join us as the author and a panel of experts highlight the book’s main policy messages, and discuss real world applications.
