Bangladesh’s The Independent published an article on a recent IFPRI study on heightened risks of adolescent pregnancy in the country. The study, “The Nutrition and Health Risks Faced by Pregnant Adolescents: Insights from a Cross-sectional Study in Bangladesh,” led by Research Fellow Phuong Hong Nguyen found that adolescent mothers recovered more slowly, and often faced more health complications than more mature mothers. Dr. Nguyen explained adolescent pregnancy is risky to mothers for health as well as economic reasons.
