NPR’s Morning Edition broadcast a feature on the devastating after effects of disasters such as the recent hurricanes and floods on aspirations and ambitions of those affected, based on a recent IFPRI study co-authored by Senior Research Fellow Katrina Kosec. In an interview with NPR, Kosec explained the effect was strongest on those who were the poorest and where government didn’t support people. “A fatalism really took hold of flood survivors,” Kosec said.
