Quartz India published an article based on an IFPRI analysis of adolescent births in India. IFPRI researchers Phong Hong Nguyen, Samuel Scott and Purnima Menon analyzed 60,096 mother-child pairs, of which 14,107 women (about 25%) first gave birth during adolescence. They found that stunting and underweight prevalence were over 10 percentage points higher in children born to adolescent mothers than in children born to adult mothers.
