Protect our food. Fund the seed. (Devex)

July 25, 2019

Devex published an opinion piece by Senior Research Fellow David Spielman on the importance of increasing investment in more diverse, resilient seeds in developing countries, where livelihoods depend heavily on the ability of farmers to produce food on degraded land, without sufficient irrigation, and at the mercy of the most severe climate shocks. Spielman builds on Dan Barber’s New York Times editorial and recommends strategies for governments and private donors to invest in reshaping infrastructure and buttressing research for more resilient seeds in the countries that need them most.
