International Business Times (Singapore) published an article on the economic impact of stubble burning, an estimated economic loss of more than $30 billion, according to an IFPRI study, The study, Risk of acute respiratory infection from crop burning in India: estimating disease burden and economic welfare from satellite and national health survey data for 250,000 persons, co-authored by IFPRI’s Samuel Scott and Avinash Kishore; CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health’s Devesh Roy, and others, links the crop residue burning (CRB), in vogue mostly in northern India, as a leading risk factor for acute respiratory infection (ARI) among children.
