Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Cenadin, AC reported on current food systems are failing consumers and the necessity to convert our healthy food system, which allows the environmental sustainability of the planet and contributes to social equity. IFPRI’s Director of Latin America & the Caribbean Eugenio Díaz Bonilla highlighted the joint work with FAO. “Food systems are related to a huge number of issues, it is related to employment, health and the environment. In terms of health, there is talk of a triple burden of malnutrition: hunger, hidden hunger and overweight and obesity.”
