Agnes Quisumbing

Agnes Quisumbing is a Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit. She co-leads a research program that examines how closing the gap between men’s and women’s ownership and control of assets may lead to better development outcomes.

Lockdowns put ASEAN’s self-sufficiency in spotlight (China Daily Global)

China Daily Global reported on how COVID-19 has forced most Southeast Asian governments to lock down their countries to stem the rise of infections. But measures meant to ensure public health safety have also led to disruptions in food supply. Senior Research Fellow Derek Headey said that Southeast Asian countries “need to keep trade channels open”. “There’s enough food for everybody. It’s about keeping the food channels open to make sure that import-dependent countries have access.” ECNS (China), China Daily Asia.
