Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

A critical time for trade (Agweek)

Ag Week published an article on trade and agriculture. The article states no one involved in agriculture knows yet what the future of world ag trade will look like. The WTO, the global international organization that deals with the rules of trade between nations. continues to have a vital role in world ag trade. But, said Senior Research Fellow Joseph Glauber, the WTO has made relatively little progress since 2008, and Trump administration trade policies since 2016 have hampered international trade issues.
