World Trade Organization members will be forced to address climate change and sustainability issues in Geneva soon as countries move to tackle climate-related concerns in part through trade policy decisions. Senior Research Fellow Joseph Glauber stated, “The reality is that’s the way the world is moving. Those discussions are — one way or another — are going to move to the WTO at some point.” Glauber cited carbon border taxes and climate-focused agricultural policies as examples of moves made or contemplated by countries that are likely to come up at the WTO.
