Agnes Quisumbing

Agnes Quisumbing is a Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit. She co-leads a research program that examines how closing the gap between men’s and women’s ownership and control of assets may lead to better development outcomes.

There will be more agricultural problems in 2021 than in 2020, according to FAO (El Observador)

El Observador (Uruguay) published an article stating that the cumulative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the sector will be felt more strongly next year. The pandemic has highlighted the fragility of the agri-food systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Program Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean at IFPRI, Eugenio Díaz-Bonilla said, “We must promote social protection networks and protect small- and medium-sized enterprises because a complicated year is coming.”
