Chambo too expensive for the poor—study (The Nation)

December 09, 2020

The Nation (Malawi) published an article on a Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources and IFPRI study shows that higher incomes increase the frequency of fish consumption and the likelihood of consuming more tilapia products, further indicating that consumer choice is influenced by household income and access to fish price and market information. The study has suggested the development of a robust tilapia value chain, which requires exploiting the complementarities and trade-offs and policy support to boost tilapia production, lower prices, and increase access to fish price and market information.
