Agnes Quisumbing

Agnes Quisumbing is a Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit. She co-leads a research program that examines how closing the gap between men’s and women’s ownership and control of assets may lead to better development outcomes.

Ukraine war has put world’s food security at risk as wheat, fertiliser supplies are hit (Outlook)

Outlook (India) published an article stating that wheat prices have increased by around 42 percent in weeks following the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Senior research fellow David Laborde told National Geographic, “The biggest threat the food system is facing is the disruption of the fertilizer trade. Wheat will impact a few countries, and the fertilizer issue can impact every farmer everywhere in the world and cause declines in the production of all food – not just wheat.”
