To reduce food prices, UK, Germany seek pause in biofuel programs (Big News Network)

Senior research fellow Joseph Glauber said, “These regulations really do need an off-ramp during times of high food prices. He added that while a waiver on biofuel mandates could help bring down food prices, it makes fuel prices slightly higher in some countries. Glauber said that as corn-based ethanol is more competitive than biofuel produced elsewhere in the world, a waiver on biofuel mandates is not expected to have much impact on the U.S. industry, though it would have a greater impact on Europe.
