Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Himanshu Pathak

Bio

Himanshu Pathak is a Program Manager in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit and is based in New Delhi. He manages a project that aims to prioritize public expenditure to foster inclusive agricultural transformation. He is interested in studying the impacts of climate change on agriculture, ways to improve resilience in agriculture, climate finance, and the role of public policy in relation to these issues. Himanshu joined IFPRI as a Research Analyst and worked on the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), which aimed to promote climate-smart agriculture. Prior to joining IFPRI, he worked with the Government of Kerala for its State Planning Board.

Himanshu completed his bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering at the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, and worked as a mining engineer before pursuing his master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainability Studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.
