Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Bio

Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah is a Senior Research Associate in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in Cairo. Her research interests include applied economic development, trade, and spatial economics, with a focus on topics relevant to social protection, food, nutrition, and agriculture in the Middle East and Africa. Before joining IFPRI, Lina conducted macro-econometric modeling and forecasting while holding several research positions in the public and private sectors, as well as research and teaching positions at the American University in Cairo. She obtained an MSc in Economics and Public Policy from the University of Bristol, UK, and a BA and MA in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
