Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Md. Masum Ali

Research Analyst

Bio

Md Masum Ali is a Research Analyst in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit. He joined IFPRI in 2021 under the Bangladesh Agricultural Policy Activity Project. His research focuses on dietary intake and nutritional assessment of mothers and children, and nutrition and food security situations in Bangladesh. He has published several articles in the peer-reviewed journals focused on dietary patterns and determinants in Bangladesh from 1985 to 2010 and the factors related to maternal and child malnutrition. Before joining IFPRI, he worked as a program and research analyst with Helen Keller International, Bangladesh and as a consultant for Charite, Germany. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Dhaka and a master’s degree in Food Security Policy and Management from the University College Cork, Ireland.
