Khalid Siddig

Khalid Siddig is a Senior Research Fellow in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit and Program Leader for the Sudan Strategy Support Program. He is an agricultural economist with a focus on examining the impacts of potential shocks and the allocation of resources on economic growth, environmental sustainability, and income distribution through the lens of economywide and micro-level tools.

Two Research Assistant / Research Analyst I in Guatemala

Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks two Research Assistant/Research Analyst I for a full time, one-year, renewable appointment in its Markets, Trade and Institutions Unit (MTI). This position is based at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) office in Guatemala City and may involve travel. The Research Assistant/Research Analyst I will work on multiple ongoing projects in Central America related to impact evaluation, agricultural markets, food security and nutrition, migration, and rural development, and will provide assistance on data collection and analysis, research papers, briefs, reports, and presentations. Interested applicants must have work authorization to work in Guatemala City.

The final grade level will be determined by level of education and years of relevant work experience.

What is the interview structure at IFPRI?

The interview structure varies depending on the position type and classification of the role itself.

  • Administrative positions, the process typically consists of a phone screen, interview with the hiring panel, interview with Human Resources, and potentially a skills test (depending on the specific requirements of the role).
  • Support level research positions, the process typically starts with requesting letters of recommendation, recent writing samples and potentially a Stata test at the long list stage. An interview with the hiring panel, and interview with Human Resources will be conducted.
  • Senior level research positions, the process consists of gathering letters of recommendation and recent publications at the long list stage. The next step consists of a candidate seminar, which is open to all IFPRI staff followed by a panel interview and interviews with human resources.

Can I set up an informational interview to learn more about this position?

IFPRI does not offer informational interviews. We strongly encourage those who are interested in our various open roles to investigate the specific unit or department online at IFPRI.org or to reach out directly to the unit director to organize a time to speak.

Has staff returned to the office full time?

IFPRI is currently operating on a hybrid schedule of two days in office and three days remote.
