Washington, DC: More than six months after the February 24 invasion of Ukraine, the conflict endures, as do concerns about its impacts on global food security, particularly in low and middle-income countries.
In an exclusive briefing for journalists, two senior economists at the International Food Policy Research Institute provided updated analysis on global food security considerations and answered questions about the potential short- and long-term impacts of the ongoing crisis. The briefing included an overview of the USDA’s latest “The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates” (WASDE) which was released on September 12, and its implications for food security around the world.
More analysis is available in our ongoing blog series here.
This briefing was recorded and on the record (comments attributable). The briefing was conducted in a hybrid format, with breakfast provided at IFPRI Headquarters.
