IFPRI’s Maximo Torero, Division Director of the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division, was interviewed by Bloomberg’s Alan Bjerga in an article about withering corn crops in South Africa. Torero told Bjerga that the Department of Agriculture forecasted that the country—the “top grain-grower” in Africa—would produce only 8 million metric tons, the lowest in more than a decade.
