Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Bio

Alaa Mazloum is a Program Manager for Yemen in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, and based in the IFPRI Cairo office. She is responsible for managing the implementation of IFPRI projects in Yemen by liaising between internal and external cross-country stakeholders. Before joining IFPRI, Alaa worked as a Program Design Manager at the Egyptian Food Bank where she managed a first-of-its-kind randomized controlled trial conducted by nongovernmental organizations on food assistance in Egypt. She also has prior experience working on conflict areas, particularly to advance the peace and security agenda, and is looking forward to leveraging this knowledge in her current position to focus on conflict and food security. She holds a BA in Political Studies from the American University in Beirut and an MA in International Human Rights from the American University of Cairo.
