Kate Amber is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit. Kate’s research broadly focuses on interventions that can increase incomes for smallholders and other microenterprises in agrifood value chains, with a specific focus on the inclusion of women. This includes work on programming in fragile settings, innovations in agricultural finance, and regulatory solutions for food safety.

Birendra Mendali is a Senior Project Manager in the HarvestPlus section of the Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit. He is based in Patna, Bihar, and leads the project “High Zinc Wheat and Rice and High Iron/Zinc Lentils to Improve Nutrition in Bihar and Odisha” funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He has more than 18 years of experience in the field of sustainable agriculture, organic agriculture, and market development. He previously worked with TechnoServe India, Reliance Foundation, Chetna Organic, and the Government of Odisha. He holds an MBA in Agribusiness Management.
