The seventh International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) and IFPRI Impact Evaluation Seminar will be held on March 8 at 12:30 EST. Cyrus Samii of New York University will present on how two different strategies for promoting free democratic expression impacted the 2011 Liberian general election.
Samii will discuss results from the paper Promoting Democracy in Fragile States: Insights from a Field Experiment in Liberia. This paper examines a civic education intervention that provided training on ballot procedures and a security intervention that designed violence early warning and reaction procedures, and finds that the civic education intervention had profound effects on civic participation and political knowledge. A video of the seminar will be posted to the event website
