Kalyani Raghunathan

Kalyani Raghunathan is Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit, based in New Delhi, India. Her research lies at the intersection of agriculture, gender, social protection, and public health and nutrition, with a specific focus on South Asia and Africa.

Rural people around the world continue to struggle with food insecurity, persistent poverty and inequality, and environmental degradation. IFPRI’s 2019 Global Food Policy Report highlights the urgency of rural revitalization to address the crisis in rural areas.

This eighth annual report also provides perspective on the major food policy issues, developments, and decisions of 2018 and highlights challenges and opportunities for 2019. Building on the global and regional evidence from the Global Food Policy Report presented by IFPRI’s Director General, Dr. Shenggen Fan, the seminar will focus on the role of agricultural investments and policies for revitalizing Egypt’s rural areas.
