Akhter Ahmed

Akhter Ahmed is a Senior Research Fellow in the IFPRI’s Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit and Country Representative for IFPRI Bangladesh. He has worked on strategies for agricultural and rural development, social protection, and women’s empowerment to reduce poverty, food insecurity, and undernutrition in developing countries including Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Malawi, the Philippines, and Turkey.

This special event hosted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) will debut IFPRI’s flagship 2012 Global Food Policy Report (Overview in Chinese).

IFPRI Director General Shenggen Fan will present a brief overview of recent and emerging food policy developments, and will highlight IFPRI’s and China’s research partnership and shared commitment to help the world’s hungry and malnourished. Chinese partners will also talk about new development of Chinese agricultural policy and IFPRI-China collaboration past, present, and future.
