Food Security and Environmental Sustainability

Due to the federal government’s closure and IFPRI’s inclement weather policy, we regret that today’s event has been cancelled. Thank you for your understanding.

As the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals approaches, policy discussions on the Post-2015 development agenda, including the upcoming Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), have gained strong momentum. These discussions put sustainable development at the center and give focus to the goal of eradicating extreme poverty. The goal of eliminating hunger is, however, equally important and should feature prominently in the Post-2015 agenda as well.

This seminar will bring together panelists with diverse experiences in research, policy, and implementation to discuss what is needed for the international community, in partnership with national actors, to arrive at a coherent Post-2015 framework, including ambitious, pragmatic, and time-bound SDGs, that gives adequate attention to food and nutrition security goals.
