Rethinking Research and Policy Analysis for Inclusive and Sustainable Food Markets and Value Chains

FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022 Side Event

October 13, 2022

  • 2:00 – 4:00 pm (Europe/Rome)
  • 8:00 – 10:00 am (US/Eastern)
  • 5:30 – 7:30 pm (Asia/Kolkata)

This event will involve a panel discussion on the desired outcomes of CGIAR’s initiative on “Rethinking Food Markets and Value Chains for Inclusion and Sustainability”. The new initiative will work with partners in Honduras, Guatemala, Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, to make globally integrated value chains inclusive, efficient, and environmentally sustainable. The initiative will identify, test, adapt, and scale bundles of game-changing innovations, incentive schemes and policies to create more equitable and inclusive sharing of income and employment opportunities in growing food markets, and empowering women and youth and encouraging their participation within agrifood systems, while reducing the food sector’s environmental footprint.
