1cr people in Bangladesh at risk of climate change hunger in 2030 (Business Standard)

August 17, 2022

The Business Standard published an article on the release of the 2022 Global Food Policy Report. The report finds that climate change in Bangladesh will reduce agricultural productivity and disrupt supply chains, putting pressure on livelihoods, and threatening to significantly increase hunger and malnutrition. As per near-term projections estimated by the IFPRI, Bangladesh will see a reduction of up to 17 percent in total calorie consumption by 2030 due to climate change, which was 2,426 kilocalories in the base year of 2010.
