China and trade (Central Radio and Television International Online)

May 27, 2020

Central Radio and Television International Online (China) interviewed Senior Research Fellow Joseph Glauber in a three-part video interview. The first, on the needs of food systems today, Glauber said, “What we’ve seen over the last few months is the need for flexibility in the food system and technology to protect the food systems against biosafety issues like the coronavirus.” In a subsequent interview, Glauber said, ”I’m optimistic that even countries who put on export restrictions a month ago have relaxed those restrictions. China has very large stock levels and their crop prospects look very good for this year.” In the final interview, Glauber said, “I think China is one of the world leader’s on money spent on research and development. It goes beyond productivity, but important things like transportation and distribution. China is to be commended for finding answers and ways to improve.”
