Kalyani Raghunathan

Kalyani Raghunathan is Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit, based in New Delhi, India. Her research lies at the intersection of agriculture, gender, social protection, and public health and nutrition, with a specific focus on South Asia and Africa.

COVID-19: Food insecurity, malnutrition, poverty may escalate in developing world, says IFPRI (Indian Express)

Indian Express reported on the release of the 2020 Global Food Policy Report’s findings: Food insecurity, malnutrition, and poverty may escalate, particularly among marginalized people in the developing world due to the rapid spread of coronavirus. Director General Johan Swinnen stated “the spread of COVID-19 has highlighted how vulnerable we all can be to global shocks. Food systems provide opportunities to improve food and nutrition security, generate income, and drive inclusive economic growth, but even in prosperous times many people are deprived of these benefits.
