Agnes Quisumbing

Agnes Quisumbing is a Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit. She co-leads a research program that examines how closing the gap between men’s and women’s ownership and control of assets may lead to better development outcomes.

DBT proves an efficient channel in disbursing COVID relief (Hindu Business Line)

Hindu Business Line (India) published an op-ed by Research Fellow Anjani Kumar, Deepak Varshney, and former South Asia Region director PK Joshi that discussed findings from their study. Field studies in the rural districts of three big States — Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh — show that the government has managed to provide emergency relief to the vulnerable sections quickly and at lower cost via direct benefit transfer.
