Kate Ambler

Kate Amber is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit. Kate’s research broadly focuses on interventions that can increase incomes for smallholders and other microenterprises in agrifood value chains, with a specific focus on the inclusion of women. This includes work on programming in fragile settings, innovations in agricultural finance, and regulatory solutions for food safety.

Former top USDA Economist: Suspend the RFS biodiesel mandate (Pro-farmer – Policy Updates)

Pro-Farmer published an article about how gasoline prices in March are on track for the biggest month-over-month increase since the mid-’70s. Senior research fellow Joseph Glauber stated, “I know this isn’t necessarily the most popular suggestion, but I think the (United States) should consider suspending these mandates” for biodiesel production and use. He made the remarks during a Farm Foundation event. “To me, food sort of trumps that.”
