Kate Ambler

Kate Amber is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit. Kate’s research broadly focuses on interventions that can increase incomes for smallholders and other microenterprises in agrifood value chains, with a specific focus on the inclusion of women. This includes work on programming in fragile settings, innovations in agricultural finance, and regulatory solutions for food safety.

Panorama Network posted an article on how the global food crisis is affecting countries that are, in response, making policies to restrict exports. Under the complicated international situation, many countries have launched a food defense war. According to data released by IFPRI (Food & Fertilizer Export Restrictions Tracker), as of May 28, more than 20 countries around the world, including Argentina, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Turkey, have implemented export restrictions on grains, including wheat, corn, flour, tomatoes, vegetable oil, beans, etc.
