Hunger disaster strikes millions as a result of corona (Arbejderen)

May 20, 2020

Arbejderen (Denmark) reported on hunger and food insecurity in the midst of COVID-19. 6,000 children can die each day for the next six months. Not primarily from COVID-19, but as a result of hunger and collapse in an already inadequate health care system. IFPRI’s study revealed, at the global level, COVID-19 will throw 147 million more people into extreme poverty. The hardest-hit areas are Sub-Saharan Africa with 79 million more extremely poor and South Asia with 42 million.
