Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

IFPRI Signs MoU with Indonesia’s Ministry of Planning

April 12, 2019, Washington, D.C. – The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) of Indonesia today affirmed their commitment to eliminating hunger in Indonesia in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation toward that goal. The MoU establishes a framework of collaboration on joint research to support policies that reduce hunger, improve nutrition, and sustainably promote inclusive, pro-poor growth in Indonesia.

The MoU was signed by Gellwynn Jusuf, Secretary of Ministry of National Development Planning/Executive Secretary of National Development Planning Agency of the Republic of Indonesia and Shenggen Fan, Director General of IFPRI. The signing was witnessed by Bambang P. S. Brodjonegoro, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of National Development Planning Agency Republic of Indonesia; Arifin Rudiyanto, National Coordinator for the Implementation of SDGs Indonesia; and Channing Arndt, Director of the Environment and Production Technology Division at IFPRI.
