January 25, 2021

Aishwarya Sandeep Blog published a post on how the government is stepping in to decide on the legal marriage age for men and women. Currently, women can marry at 18, whereas men aren’t allowed to marry until 21. The age of maturity is the same–eighteen years of age. To avoid sex discrimination, the same should be true for marriage. Raising the legal marriage age for women can aid women in greater success as adults. Early marriage affects the health of the woman, financial success, and quality of life. According to IFPRI research, How has early marriage, a critical social determinant of child stunting and wasting, changed over a decade in south asia? Trends, inequities, and drivers, 2005 to 2018, the nutrition of adolescence mother they have higher chances of malnutrition during their pregnancy and their growth in the long run also gets hampered. In India 21 million girls who are between the age of 15 to 19 years, have the most reported pregnancy issues.
