Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

“Climate change is further exacerbating water scarcity, with over 600 million people facing high to extreme water stress,” writes Deccan Herald (India). 

The article mentions a study by the International Food Policy Research Institute stating that “climate change is projected to reduce agricultural yields in India by 18.6 percent for wheat and 10.8 percent for rice by 2050. Women account for over 60 percent of agricultural workers in India and are responsible for up to 90 percent of the post-harvest work.”
