Kate Ambler

Kate Amber is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit. Kate’s research broadly focuses on interventions that can increase incomes for smallholders and other microenterprises in agrifood value chains, with a specific focus on the inclusion of women. This includes work on programming in fragile settings, innovations in agricultural finance, and regulatory solutions for food safety.

Putin’s 45 food export restrictions… “Affecting domestic prices” (News Quest)

News Quest (Korea) published an article that states 45 out of a total of 57 export restriction cases occurred after the Ukrainian War with hikes of 45 percent for grain, 30 percent for oil, and an 80 percent fertilizer price hike. “We need to build a food supply chain.” According to IFPRI on the 9th, 20 countries, including India, Malaysia, Argentina, Ghana, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Pakistan, have practically banned food exports.
