Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Report calls for increased funding for agriculture

The 2019 Global Food Policy Report was covered in an article in Rwanda’s The New Times. Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Edouard Ngirente, said that the report details evidenced-based facts, the urgency of rural revitalization in order to address the crisis of food insecurity in rural areas. He also stated, “We strongly believe that this report will contribute to the emergence of global food policy shifts towards high investment and capitalization for increased productivity and competitiveness of the agriculture sector.”
