Khalid Siddig

Khalid Siddig is a Senior Research Fellow in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit and Program Leader for the Sudan Strategy Support Program. He is an agricultural economist with a focus on examining the impacts of potential shocks and the allocation of resources on economic growth, environmental sustainability, and income distribution through the lens of economywide and micro-level tools.

Reuters published an opinion article co-authored by IFPRI Director General Shenggen Fan and UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner based on a report chapter in the 2019 Global Food Policy Report. Fan and Steiner highlighted the continuing state of crisis in rural areas in many parts of the world, recommending rural revitalization as a strategy to dramatically transform rural areas making them more productive, sustainable, climate-resilient, healthy, and attractive places to live.
