The article discussed how the COVID-19 pandemic changed tourism and the economy in places such as Egypt. An IFPRI report, COVID-19 and the Egyptian economy: Estimating the impacts of expected reductions in tourism, Suez Canal revenues, and remittances showed that the local service industry in Egypt was most affected by the epidemic. It estimated the total production of the hotel and catering industry from April to June 2020. The value of production fell by 59.5 percent; the gross production value of the transportation industry dropped by 26.3 percent; the gross production value of the trade industry also dropped by 19.7 percent.
