Ultra poor feel economic pinch (MW Nation)

April 07, 2021

MW Nation (Malawi) published an article on the second-round survey conducted in eight districts that has exposed the suffering that many rural communities face, ranging from rising food prices to limiting or reducing the number of meals. The survey titled Covid-19 in Rural Malawi: Perceived Risks and Economic Impacts was conducted by IFPRI. The study found that economic activities in rural areas are heavily affected by the pandemic, largely due to government restrictions or peoples’ behaviors, which limited the amount of work some people do to earn a living.
