Emily Schmidt

Emily Schmidt is a Senior Research Fellow in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. Her most recent research explores household livelihood strategies in Papua New Guinea, including linkages between agriculture, poverty, and nutrition outcomes among rural smallholder farmers.

Mariama Touré is a Senior Research Analyst in the Nutrition, Health, and Diets Unit, based in Dakar, Senegal. Her work includes projects that tackle acute malnutrition, gender, and women’s empowerment. She also works on coordinating the impact evaluation of nutrition-sensitive interventions, collaboration, and communication with local academic and implementing partners. Before joining IFPRI, Mariama worked as a Data Analyst at the Institut de Recherche et Documentation en Economie de la Santé (IRDES, Paris), where she studied the impact of hospital competition on the quality of cancer care.

Mariama trained as a statistical engineer at the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Analyse de l’Information (ENSAI) in Rennes, France, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Analyse Economique (ENSAE) in Dakar, Senegal. She also holds a Master’s degree in Health Economics from the Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE).
