Liangzhi You

Liangzhi You is a Senior Research Fellow and theme leader in the Foresight and Policy Modeling Unit, based in Washington, DC. His research focuses on climate resilience, spatial data and analytics, agroecosystems, and agricultural science policy. Gridded crop production data of the world (SPAM) and the agricultural technology evaluation model (DREAM) are among his research contributions.

Why “home garden” projects don’t always work. Insights from Ethiopia  (The Conversation)

The Conversation published an op-ed by Senior Research Fellows Kalle Hirvonen and Derek Headey. The op-ed encourages and explains the importance of eating fruits and vegetables; however, the problem is fruits and vegetables are often too expensive and unaffordable for most. In the Ethiopian study, the average household would have to spend more than 10% of their income to meet the international recommendation of two servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables per person per day.
