Ukraine hit by war, RI threatened ‘Doomsday’ bread and noodles? (CNBC Indonesia)

March 16, 2022

CNBC Indonesia published an article the Russo-Ukrainian war has an impact on competition between countries in finding new sources of wheat suppliers. So far, Russia and Ukraine supply 28% of the total world wheat export market. The conflict between the two countries clearly makes many importing countries such as Indonesia must look for other suppliers. Indonesia is not only looking for wheat suppliers to replace Russia and Ukraine. Middle Eastern and North African countries are also looking for new suppliers.  Related to this, IFPRI wrote that it is not easy to find a replacement country for Russia and Ukraine. The reason is that wheat production cannot be increased in a short time. “It is very difficult to increase the global supply of wheat in a short time. Russia and Ukraine cannot be replaced overnight.”
