“The sharp increase in the price of red meat led to a decline in its consumption in Egypt,” reports Al Jazeera.
“According to a study conducted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in October and November of last year, involving over 6,000 poor and near-poor households from across Egypt, 85% of the households reduced their meat consumption, while 75% decreased their consumption of chicken and eggs”.
