Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Anne G. Timu is an Associate Research Fellow with the Foresight and Policy Modeling Unit. Her research focuses on topics related to climate risk management, financial inclusion, technology adoption, smallholder farmer typologies, and livelihood transitions. She currently leads the implementation of a risk contingent credit program in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Zambia. Anne also leads the development of a framework to inform tailoring and targeting of interventions for USAID’s Feed the Future program. She has extensive experience in managing research projects, conducting randomized evaluations, and large-scale household and community surveys. She holds a master’s degree and PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics.
